Evan Meredith, born in 1936 in a small village near Aberystwyth, spent more than seven decades crafting furniture from locally sourced oak and ash. Known for his precision and quiet humility, he built everything from chapel pews to children’s toys, each piece marked by his signature hand-carved initials. During the 1960s, Evan restored several historic farmhouses across mid-Wales, earning a quiet reputation among architects and historians. Even in his late eighties, he continued to mentor young apprentices, teaching them the value of patience and the warmth of wood shaped by hand.
